I have been having issues loading my h180 onto my trailer since the very first time I used the boat. The crank handle looses its traction on the gears with little force and I have to tighten the bolt constantly. I can never put much force on the crank handle because it just doesn’t hold up. Does anyone else have these issues? Any ideas how to fix it? It was a little embarrassing at the ramp this on Saturday because it took for ever to load the trailer and I was never able to get the boat to touch the roller. Thank you for any help

Sounds like it might be defective. Ive cranked the living snog out of my H190 to pull it up a couple of times and it does the job no question.

Without seeing the particular winch you have, it's hard to say, but many of them have a lever that you can press to disengage the crank from the gears. It uses a pair of grooves in the crank's shaft to hold the crank in the right position from side to side. Make sure the gear on the crank's shaft is engaged (i.e., in line) with the gear in the winch body. If it is and something is slipping, then I'd say it's defective.

It sounds like you have the crank handle slipping on the shaft. You likely have an externally splined shaft that the internally splined handle slips onto, and the bolt or nut secures the handle to the shaft (like many automotive wiper shaft to arm set-ups). If tightening the bolt/nut will not keep the handle secure on the shaft, you will likely need a new shaft AND handle.

I'd call your sales people right away. With new boats they should be happy to take a look. With a new purchase our guys would meet you at the dock if need be.

If you get the bunks wet first, the boat loads much more easily. Some even spray a lubricant (non-stick cooking oil as I recall). Makes a big difference.

I had an issue with crank when I got my new boat this year…. While we are preparing my boat for the first time out on water, my sales rep noticed the crank of my trailer was not engaged right gear combination or something that matter. I was not paying a too much attention since service people fixed it while I was enjoying my first ride out. I think it was done accidentally at factory and the chance is you have a same issue as I had and the service guys should take care of it very quick.
