My FW trailer has a different kind of hitch mechanism I've not seen before. Traditionally the lock stick up and has a hole in it where a padlock can pass through. On the FW trailer, it's flush with the tongue and does not protrude; therefore there is no hole to put a padlock through. While parked I swing the tounge away and place a heavy duty lock through one set of holes where the pin locks the tongue in postion. The problem is when I have the boat/trailer attached to the truck. There is nothing to stop someone from just unhooking the trailer and taking the boat. Am I missing something? |

http://www.trimaxlocks.com/coupler.htm I have both a UMAX100 and a TC2 or TC3 (can't remember which, measure your coupler). I also have a Trimax drawbar locking pin, and all 3 are keyed alike. |

I should've referred you to the SXTC2 or 3 (the stainless versions, further down the page). Unless you want to fight chipping chrome and rust. All my Trimax locks are stainless (except the UMAX100 where stainless isn't an option) and keyed alike. I had to contact an online seller and ask them to dig through their stock to find them with the same key numbers. |

Please note...locking your trailer will only stop honest people. I know from experience (a $1000 experience). I had my triaxle aluminum trailer stolen off my truck in February. It was locked to the truck, no problem for the thieves. Now, I put a heavy bright orange chain locked around the frame and thru one of the wheels. Will it stop them, no, it will slow them down a touch, but more importantly "IT SCREAMS TAKE HIS -->" Also thought about painting it flourecent pink with flourecent green spots. If it's fugly, who would take that trailer! P.S. One other thing, check you insurance. Your trailer may be worht more now than you think. I paid $5090 for the trailer when I bought the boat and that's what I insured it for. Aluminum has gone up considerable. New replacement trialers were north of $6800. I found a local builder than fourtunaltely took pity on me and built one for me at cost.. $5600. |

The majority of trailers I see at the ramp are unlocked. I figure I can mitigate my chances even with a simple lock. Right now, I don't lock it at all. |
