hayduke, how does that tacoma pull that 220? have you ever pulled the boat out of a steep ramp and does it have 4x4? i had a frontier and traded it on a cummuns to pull my 220 cause i was too afriad of the boat bringing the truck with it into the water.

Sorry about the terrible photo, it's a scan of a photo from a throwaway film camera.

The Tacoma does a great job! The boat/trailer weighs around 4800#, and the truck's never had a problem. I do have 4x4, and do occasionally use it on the ramp (though usually when I do use it, I use 4lo to save the wear on the clutch, traction has never really been a problem). The Tacoma pulls the trailer like a dream on the highway, and has been fantastic on the ramps when I have used it for that. We spend 99% of our time on the boat at our lake house, and there we use an old Farmall tractor to launch on the beach right in front of our place. Saves us from paying the ramp fees and saves the trucks from the duty of launching in the deep sand.

Finally got the hitch on and ready to go..... just in time to put the boat away for the winter.

Oh well, at least we're ready for towing next year.

Here's mine. You don't get this in the USA - a Ford Territory (http://www.ford.com.au). 4 liter AWD - is about BMW X5 size.

Here's my current set-up. I'm getting ready to put our 268 up for sale so no more trailering with the new 328.
