of all the locking hitch pins i've run across, they seem to be made for the 11/4" rec. hitch with an "added" adapter sleeve to bring it up to the std. 2" use. i don't seem to see where it states the towing capacity for either use? i've used my master lock for years on my 1 1/4" but really have doubts about "adapting" up to the 2" mount for a heavier towing use. comments??

I have the same one and removed it once to switch vehicles. Did fine, but it was when it was pretty new. Its coming on its 3rd season now. I guess I should probably try to get it off and and maybe lube it up a bit. Oh, and I have NEVER been able to get the damn adapter sleeve to work for me anyway.

I remove mine weekly during the summer and about monthly during the winter (I don't leave the hitch in when not towing the boat.) and it has always worked great.

I use the same one as well and never had any problems and am using the adapter sleeve.

Some interesting info just published today about Masterlock. Maybe they could use some more business to help pay off this.

Master Lock loses patent infringement case

A federal jury said Master Lock Co. infringed on patents for receiver lock technology used in towing applications and ordered the company to pay $5.35 million to inventor Philip Wyers, owner of Wyers Products Group Inc.

After realizing I am a bonehead, I got the adapter sleeve in there as it should be.
