Ok just purchased a boat and trailer horizon 1996 both in pretty good shape but i didnt get a title for the trailer just for the boat from NY state. I have the original application for title and the trailer was plated and registered in NY.... so there is a title someplace. I now cant get a hold of previous owner ( vacation) and i need to get a copy of the title to transfer into my name.

How do i circumvent the red tape that is NY and request a copy of a title in previous owners name for transfer to my name.

kinda frustrated

In NY trailers are not titled so you can transfer owership with the registration...so you need a copy of that...does the state you live in title trailers?

In Texas, I believe you could just start over....tell them its a home built boat trailer and start fresh.....not sure if it would work up there though.
