I need a big 1 7/8" socket for the 2 5/16" ball going on my WD hitch. O'Reilly Auto didn't have one, and suggested Lowe's, but I can't find one big enough on their website. A big cresent wrench won't work, as it is tucked up inside the drop hitch. Any ideas? |

Can you wedge something against the nut to hold it and turn the ball with a vice grip? |

I would go to Sears and buy what you need. Good luck! |

Craftsman aren't that great anymore either. It all depends on whether you need the tool tonight or in a few days!! |

I was about to send you an email asking about how you got that ball on there... |

I use my standard Craftsman 3/4" drive socket, a 3/4' to 1/2" adapter, 1/2" breaker bar and the upper half of my aluminum jack handle (about 3' long). |

+1, go to Sears and get an impact socket. Oh, and you'll need an IR impact wrench and a new compressor to go with it. Always remember, Carpenter Diem - seize the tools. Every project deserves at least one new tool. |

I went to a local RV dealership, and had them use their impact wrench/socket and install it for me. It took them 15 seconds, and they did not charge me anything. |

I've got the compressor already. Ended up stopping by a local garage and got it done free. |
