what is the best grease to use on my trailer? How often do you re-grease your trailer?

Plain old green marine grease from WalMart is what a lot of people are happy with. I use Mobil1 Synthetic but it's probably overkill.

+1 to mike - marine grease.

I am in salt water all the time, so I top up bearings a couple of times during the season (unless I'm going a long way - then every time before I go). Coupling and pivot points - once a season.

I use Pennzoil Marine grease in the wheel bearings and OMC/Bombardier triple guard grease on all the pivots for the roller bars...then I spray down all the ubolts with either Corrosion X or Boeshield before it goes in salt water..

Mobil 1 synthetic for me. Lube a few times each season unless on a long trip then I always give them a quick grease before we leave.

+1 to all above....

I grease the hubs when I rotate my tires. This way I can slowly spin the wheels while injecting grease. Helps push out any water that could be in the bearings.

does anyone one have pictures or diagram on where all the fittings or grease locations are? Do you have to take off the tires to do the bearings?

Mine has Super Lube spindles... all you do is remove the rubber grommet on the end of the axle. Underneath this is a grease nipple - just pump it until clean grease starts coming out the front. No need to jack the trailer up or remove wheels - I just do mine when it is parked in the driveway.

Clean up your mess, put the rubber dust cover back on and the job is done. Repeat for each hub. You may find the attached document useful...
