Howdy, I know this question has been probably been asked. I have been thinking about going to electric brakes for quite some time now. I know Dexter has a good brake system for NON "submersible" trailers. Fulton Performance is the only company that offers a "Marine" electric brake system. http://www.fultonperformance.com/Brakes ... -27-08.pdf (open this link in a new "TAB") I can not find anyone that has actually tried them though. Anyone on here got them? thanks/Rick |

There was a guy by the name of Nick (in Spartanburg SC?) who had posted over at the hull truth (http://www.thehulltruth.com) about his experiences with them...I don't think he got them to work right...he had some kind hybrid set up with surge discs and electric drums...not sure how it all worked... The trailer brake gurus over there seem to favor Kodiak discs...I have a set of Tie Down galvanized drums and because my trailer only goes in salt water about 4 times a season they lasted me 5 seasons till one wheel cyl leaked...just replaced the whole backing plate...if I ever upgrade this trailer again I might go with the Kodiaks....but I am in a hilly area so drums do have the advantage of running cooler because the return springs pull the shoes away from the drum...discs always have constant contact.... |
