Post subject: | Brake problem |
The last couple of years I have had a brake that hangs up enough to heat up the hub and drum and cause a hot smell. I take it apart and clean it up and its ok. Have had this happen on several differnt wheels. Its a 99 FW 258 trailer. Boat is in the water all summer and trailer sets outside. Why won't the shoes retract? Does any one have a fix? |

Typical with drum brakes. I would suggest replacing with disc. |

Help out our freinds in cadillac and order a new 278, then you will have disc brakes. |

I like my 258 to much. It will be easier to switch to disc's on present trailer. Next years project. |

Run from Tie-Downs, they suck! Kodiak are the ones to have. The actually have all SS now. Mine are great even after most of their use being dunked in saltwater. |

That is what I have been reading. Kodiak offers several types depending what you need for corrosion protection. I am in freshwater only so I have some options. Can't find much good said about Tie-downs. |

I've only got 2 years in, but I can't imagine what could be better on my Tie Down setup. |
