So what's the trick to lubing my trailer bearings on the axle that has the brakes? |

Do you have the Sure Lube spindles? I don't know what year they started using them. |

No, I have the older style with the grease cap. I have never done bearings beforeso I'm a totally newbie on this one. |

You do them like you would do a car bearings If they are disc brakes you remove the caliper then the rotor and do the bearings, If it's drums just pull the drum. My advice is, after you greese/inspect them I'd put on a set of bearing buddies (or similiar hub)---While it's not a replacement for maintance they sure make me feel better between inspections... |

Some really good videos here showing repacking bearings and replacing bearings on drum brakes. Discs are not much different, just a bit trickier to get the rotors off - have to remove calipers first. Important, use locktite on the stainless steel caliper sliders when re-assembling them - if you don't, they will work loose and eventually come out with serious consequences ![]() http://www.etrailer.com/tvc-45-Bearings-Races-and-Seals.html |
