I think some small marker lights on the front guide on posts facing forward might work and if I order the ones from Four Winns they might even look like they belong there?

Anyone added the aftermarket guide on's to your trailer? I know we have the short carpeted ones, but I would like to add some 48" ones? Problem is I don't want them to look add on or cheap and I also want the ones with the led's in the top to help with backing the empty trailer at night. Maybe if they have the colored/padded covers on them with a 4 winns logo or something, then they would look more "at home". What do you guys think? |

Everytime I see a boat (other than a true wake/ski boat) trailer that has them...they look cheesy. With that said, I am good friends with Kent at Roadrunner trailer in Lewisville and I am sure they could do what you want them to do and make it look good. Email me if you want his info. |

I'm not going to do it if it looks cheesy or aftermarket, but I need to come up with something that will help see the empty trailer in the dark. As is it is very hard to see backing down the ramp in the dark and yes it's plugged in. |

When I am loading at night, the only time I have trouble is when the trailer has gone over the crest of the ramp before the truck. Other than that....I use the trailers side markers as a guide...works pretty well. I know with a truck as high as the F250...it can be a challenge though. |

What about this idea? mount one of these http://www.oznium.com/marine-led-light to the center of the furthest back cross member of the trailer, facing up and wire it so that it only comes on when the backup lights to the truck are on, if that's possible. Walt? |

What do you think about that idea? The light is only 9 bucks so not a big loss if it doesn't work. I'm also thinking about another set of marker lights mounted to the guide on's somehow, that might make the trailer more visable. The marker lights on the fenders or close to the fenders that are there now are hard to see and don't put out much light. I think I need to get to the boat and trailer, which I'll be doing this friday and ponder this some more. |

I'm with ya - lights are a great idea. More often than not we're loading in the dark and the trailer gets VERY hard to see even with the LED tail lights on. Lights at the top of the side guides are a great idea. Somehow I don't like the idea of the tow vehicle having to be in reverse while loading though. Maybe some kind of weatherproof switch on the winch post would be a good solution. |

Mostly for the wifey when backing the trailer in the pitch dark. My latest idea is to mount 2 of the underwater leds to the rear sides of the trailer that would come on when backing only. I think this would work well, you could see the rear of the trailer much easier and it would also illuminate the edges of the ramp. I'm liking this idea the more I think about it. |
