I bought a used tandem axle trailer for my Four Winns Horizon, replacing the the original Four Winns single axle trailer. The trailer is two feet too long. If I cut two feet off the back of the trailer weight distribution should not be a problem. The front axle will be just over 4 feet from the back of the boat and the back axle will be just under two feet from the back of the boat, whereas the original trailer had the one axle three feet nine inches from the back of the boat.
Should I be concerned with the back axle less than two feet from the back of the boat?

You should be fine if your tongue weight at level is about 6% to 8% of your boat & trailer together.
