Just scheduled the pick up date for my 07 180. I've got a Nissan Pathfinder with BF Goodrich All Terrains, which like to toss rocks all over the place. I've been trying to find a reasonably priced hitch-mount splash guard and am having a hard time (Towtectors are $300+ US). Anyone have any suggestions?

Can't remember the name brand, but one of our local RV dealers had some that I picked up a while back before taking delivery of my 180. They rang in at $170 for the mount and skirt for the back. Look like the towtectors but don't have the extra bar. So far they've worked great. I can try to dig out the name if you like.

Thanks, but I ended up buying a set of "Rock Tamers" from Cabellas. They were $199 US + shipping to the great white North. They are basically two heavy-duty mud guards suspended by two stainless rods. The rods fasten to the hitch with a cast adapter. They are very well built and have been working great. I just leave them attached to the hitch and store the whole unit in my garage when not in use. I would recommend them to anyone and am actually surprised that more people don't use them.

Thanks thompsbren. They are still $199.00 at Cabela's. Just ordered a set of the Chrome ones.

You'll love them and they will look much better on your F150 than on my pathfinder. Some may say its overkill, but they are tough as nails and do a great job of protecting your boat.

Not overkill IMO. I'm going to check into them as well. I've got a couple of shallow, pinpoint sized chips, even though I've already added molded guards on my F-150. The chips are so tiny that every time I try to find them to get them buffed out, I can't. I think they just fill up with wax and become invisible. But I don't want any more of them.

That's great to hear. I think it's a small price to pay to protect your boat, especially considering how much we pay for these things.

I was very impressed with how well made these things are. They are fairly heavy. I am ready to pick up the new boat tomorrow afternoon! I'm drowning in excitement.

I went up to Cabela's last weekend to check out the Rock Tamers; naturally they were out of them. It's all good, though, because today a $20-off coupon came in the mail  .

If your handy fabricating stuff, you can make your own for under $50. I bought semi mud flaps at local auto parts store, made my own mud flap hangers that plug into a bracket I mounted to receiver hitch. Brackets are mounted out of site, just infront of rear bumper.

Awesome DIY, Powellcrazy! Might have to add that to my list. That list is getting pretty long!
