I have a 2006 horizon 200, dual axle trailer. Trailer has been a little abused with non rinsing after salt water use. The pin that allows for trailer tongue folding is pretty much rusted in place. My question is... Does the pin have a thread (screws out) or is it only the diaper pin that holds it in place??
Basically, can I hit it with a hammer in an attempt to break it free or do I need to twist it off??
Thanks

It's just a friction fit held in place by the safety pin. I'd bet one gentle whack from the bottom end will knock it loose.

Thanks Mike.. Already gave it a few really hard whacks. Looks like it is time to break out some heat.

Before you do any more damage to the paint, etc., you might try drowning it in either Kroil (hard to find locally) or PB Blaster (the WalMarts around here have it). Let it soak a day or two and spray it again if you need to - both top and bottom. Then whack it again.

Also, once you get the pin out I'd replace it, especially if you have to heat it. The Tractor Supply Co. stores have a good selection of these, but I don't know what you'll have available there.

Where in the middle east?

Already tried "mouse milk".. Will try to wriggle the tongue a little while hitting it.
Am in the United Arab Emirates.. Cool place for boating, but very saline water. Bought the boat 2 months ago with rust on the trailer.

Try packing the area in ice and let the contraction/expansion break it free.

once you get the pin out and cleaned up make sure you coat it with silver anti sieze like the stuff used on sark plugs.....it will be messy but will come out of there long after we are all dead and gone.....
