The Carlisle trailer tires are done for after 4,300 miles to careful towing at 55 mph. The tire store recommended Greenball trailer tires instead of getting Goodyear Marathons (which they also carry). He also recommended that I could go up from load range D (8 ply rating and 2540 lbs max wt) which is standard for the trailer to a load range E (10 ply rating and 2830 lbs max wt) to get a stiffer sidewall. Does anyone have experience with Greenball Towmaster tires? |

I've been looking for tires for my camper...the folks on the camping forums aren't fans of the greenball tires. From what I'm reading, the recommendation is to stay away from the Chinese made tires. The typical recommendations are for goodyear marathons (not sure if they are still made in the US though), Kenda Loadstars, Duro's, or Carlisle USA Trails. Hit up a few camping forums and read up on their trailer tires suggestions. |

I have no experience with green ball tires, but my neighbor owns a tire shop and I was told to but the Carlisle tire back on my boat trailer. I did up grade them to 10 ply verses the 8 ply. |

Called my local tire shop today to get tires for my camper. They did some research and came back to me with all trailer tires are now made overseas (most likely in china). I'm guessing there is still one or two that aren't made overseas, but it sounds like it's going to be difficult to find any that aren't. FWIW, I ordered the Carlisle's for my camper. I will probably go that route for my boat trailer when the time comes. |

I've seen some pretty bad reviews about Marathons blowing out, true, yes, no, it's the internet. I just today ordered some 10 ply Gladiators, Chino, yes, but reviews were what I'd call decent. The guy I bought the boat from just had put some new tires on the trailer, but they are truck-tires with a 1250# rating, 4-Ply. I'm not hauling to Fl. and risk a blow-out, No thanks. E's might be a little over-kill, but hey ,I do not want to be on the side of the road in 90+ heat changing a tire...... |

There are really not too many alternatives, I have Kenda Load Stars and they have been great, but I don't trailer much. You can find a US made LT rated Goodyear Wrangler AT-S in a D load range, 235 75 15 size, that would be good for a single axle trailer if you did not want cheap overseas trailer tires. That's all I could find, American made in a D load range 15 in tire.... |
