I need a little help. I just purchased a 1987 Liberator 241 with a 454 and alpha one. I need to know how the throttle controls works. I see a round black button "suppose to be the trim" a switch on top of the throttle control "don't know what it is" I see the up and down buttons for the Trim Tabs but get nothing out of those. I cant get the throttle control to move forward or reverse and don't want to force it. I am looking for a owners manual but I didn't have any luck finding one yet. Can someone please help me get this going. I have been out of boating for about 15 years and just picked up this boat. looks to be in good shape and I took a test ride and it ran great. I just don't remember what the guy told me now about how it works, Boy it's hell getting old. Thanks for the help

Randy

Most throttle handles have a lever that you squeeze to release it out of neutral. On mine I wrap my fingers around the handle and squeeze upward to shift into forward or reverse.

My trim is a rocker switch on the end of the throttle handle. There is also a gear release round knob down at the bottom where the entire handle pivots. Push it in to rev the engine without shifting into gear. Mine is a Volvo-Penta control but I think most all are similar.

Welcome to the forums and good luck.

The picture above is it except I do not have the trim indicators in the middle. I don't have them at all.

Thanks

Hey Cap'n Morgan, Can you tell me what the switch's above the key switch are for one by one the guy I got this boat from changed the wiring and one switch will operate 3 different items. Plus I see no way to control the cabin lights. Thanks in advance for the help. I also found out why I couldn't get on plane. The Trim Tabs under the dash was disconnected. Maybe he was in there before I picked up the boat. I also see some kind of switch or push button on the stern on top of the deck can anyone tell me what this is for. Pushed it and nothing happen.
