I just purchased a piece of junk for our starter boat. Patched the floor, re-carpet, new seats, new gauges, new engine (3.0), re-built most of the outdrive, painted it yellow, painting trailer.....just about everything. Here are some before pics and I'll get more after later.. Image Image Image

The outside and the trailer actually look pretty good to me. You coulda gone all day and not shown us the interior however  .

Good luck. You might need it :).

It had seats and carpet, I just thought the ski well was a little too soft. I ripped all of that out. I have the new deck laid, just waiting for it to not rain for a day so I can lay the carpet. I still need a new steering cable, but that shouldn't be too messy to install.. I post something once I get it in.

You're not in trouble!
Lot's of work... but donne right you will have a great time on your boat!

I also own a 1984 Four Winns Marquise that I am restoring... they are great boats.

Good luck with your project and send more photos!

That's a great job. The hull looks awesome! The yellow trailer will perfect the look.

We re-did a '71 Glastron about 7 years (and 4 boats) ago. Pulled it out of the junk-yard (really). Stripped interior fully (looked kinda like your shot), redid interior, hull, engine & trailer.

Used it for two seasons, then sold it for a profit!

Well, here we are a few years later. I have replaced almost everything except for the hull. Shift cable went last weekend, had to re-build the carb this spring, along with the u-joints, bellow and bimbal bearing. I now have every single specialty tool you can have. I still love it, but the wife thinks it is just this boat. She has never had one and wants to dump it because of the problems. Almost everything is new and she runs great.

I also pitched it way too high....or so I thought. She has a 15 X 23 and runs out great. It is a little slow getting up with 4 people on and noone in the front, but once up, she will run down Wellcrafts at 50. Kinda funny to pass them in such a small boat.

To anyone rebuilding_ stick with it! One day t will be worth it and you will have something unique!

I'm glad to see this worked out. I just picked up a 1987 Four Winns Horizon 170 that looks just like this. Its fairly worn and the interior is trashed. I'm a little worried I am getting in over my head, so its nice to see someone who has been through this. Do you have any tips? Since the boat I have has a new floor in it, I'm going to start on the cushions and inside panels. I have never owned a boat so know very little about anything.

What color yellow is that and what brand paint did you use?
