I have a complete 1993 5.8L cobra engine and out drive not king cobra, have found a nice 1995 four winns 170 Freedom with sport seating package needing a engine, has a volvo 4.3 v6 in it now, is there enough room for my 1993 5.8L engine to repower this 170 Freedom? Any thoughts? Issues?

Just did a quick search of the web and found some info on swapping v8 into v6 boat...
here's one http://www.dieseltraderonline.com/show.php?id=4858&category=Diesel%20Truck&make=Ford&model=&srt=auto&p=50&submit=Search&page=1 while not specific it lists some basic issues you may run up against with the drive gear ratio, and wiring etc (you have the motor and drive you won't have any gearing issues). Seems like you need to know if the transom and the motor mounts will hold up with the extra power. Also, not sure how much more weight you'd be adding, and how that would affect the boats handling characteristics. A good starting point would be to find out if your model was available with a V8 from the factory. I've never done this swap before just thought I'd try to kickstart your thread - maybe someone else with lot's more experience will join in and help you out.

You could also throw in a thread in "boating banter" link to this thread - seems to be more activity there than in the "previous models" section.
