Hey all you peeps who like the old school ways. Here's a chance to sport your craft. Shoot some awesome pics of your pride and joy (includes occupants as well) and post 'em up here. Just like they say in Cali about the old surfer dudes "Old Guys Rule" well here "Old Boats Rule". So if you're over 30 yer an old guy now so get to clickin and postin and being cool. I get ideas from the pics I see so post up and watch the comments come alive. Pics are king so here's a reason to use the camera more. Have fun y'all.
Thanks,
Smitty

This is the "Old" boat I had until just over a year ago. 1987 Chaparral 198CXL with 4.3 OMC Cobra (same year and drive as LouC). I bought it and used it from 1994 to 2012. You can see the stack of 18 state registration stickers as each year I would put the new sticker on top of the old one, except shifted forward an 1/8 of an inch.

With all that experience servicing the Cobra drive, when I decided to buy a newer boat, I searched used boats for VP drive. That's how I came across Four Winns. I really didn't know anything about FW until I found my Horizon 240 on Craigs List.

So you see...not everyone in coastal Florida wants a center console with an outboard :)

I think that in Fl there are a lot of people who DON"T fish but like to just ride in style. Obviously as yourself. That's a great starter boat there. I've been boating since I was old enough to recognize what it was and I remember our first boat as being a "barge" as my grandfather called it. He and my father built it out of old surplus pontoons and welded a framed deck together, put some plywood on top, hooked up a steering column, a motor and went with it. We had so much fun running that thing around the lakes. My personal first boat was one my dad had sitting around and didn't want anymore and said I could tow it away. It was 16' 1957 Lonestar with a VERY small cabin in front with round port holes and a Johnson 35hp outboard. I will see if I can find some pictures of that old thing. ha ha

Here's my favorite cool old boat, I almost...bought...one....this summer because the price was right and it had a 5.7 4bbl/Cobra, I knew I could get the price lower because it was a Cobra and being able to fix just about anything on the Cobra it would have been easy for me...but...no room to store any more toys.....a number of these had OMC power because OMC owned Donzi as well as Four Winns...

With a 350 in a 16' boat, that thing must absolutely haul a$s! Probably over 65-70+ mph, no?

Below is a couple of pics of my old boat sitting in Hyannis Harbor.

Those are some nice lines. And the boat isn't bad looking either! There is nothing bad about the OMC that I know about. Yeah, there proven, there outdated, they keep on going though. Storage issues huh?

Very nice boat indeed. And what better place than Hyannis. I lived in Boston for a couple of years but never got the chance to own a boat. I'd still be there if I had. Nice rig.
