Glad to find this forum. Lot's of good information.
I bought my 1st boat last year a 1996 Whaler 13' Sport.
After learning on this boat and using it in SWFL (Cape Coral) I needed something a little bigger.

Last month I found a 2003 Four Winns Freedom 170 with a 90hp Johnson.
Boat is pretty much mint condition with a Galvanized trailer.

Went through typical maintenance on the boat and trailer.
Everything looks pretty good. Replaced tires, wheel bearings and seals on trailer.
Changed plugs, lubricated linkages and changed lower unit oil in engine.

Side mount shifter seems a little stiff, but will monitor for now.

So far I am pleased with the boat. Much more space and comfy ride.

Looking forward to discussions here and learning more.

Best regards,
Doug

Really nice boat!

I really enjoyed my 2000 H180. If it had a V6 and not 3.0 I'd still probably have it today.

I'd most definitely still own it today if that were the case! That little 3.0 just didn't have the power it made for a horrible boating experience with 4 people, coolers, and stuff. Wouldn't get on plane without shifting weight and basically you had to go WOT everywhere you went (what was what? 30mph loaded? lol).

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a nice boat! I have a 1990 four winns 170 freedom with stern drive. These are great little boats, and with some care will last a long, long time. I am in the process of replacing my old worn out lounge seats, and some other upholstery. Hope to have it done in the next 2 weeks. :)

Good luck

Dan

Thanks to everyone for their warm welcome.
I picked this little Gem up for $6700 last month at the end of the season in Florida.

I used to own a Jayco travel trailer and that forum was a tremendous help for upgrades and issues.

I see many similarities to this forum. Seems like a great group of folks.

I hope I can contribute in some small ways along with learning from others.

Best regards,
Doug
