I am the new owner of a 1993 Freedom 180 F/S. It has a 115 HP Johnson etc. Needs some work but looks good overall. Anything in particular i should look for on the boats as far as defects or common problem areas. any help would be appreciated.

Okay I have a question, its a 1993 Four Winns Freedom 180. It looks like there are places for three batteries in the back, It has a Johnson 115 and a trolling moter. There also was a battery charger that looks like it will charge 3 batteries at a time. How many batteries do I need? do i need a cut off switch for them etc. Excuse my questions I am a newb.

Some updated pics. I have been working on it for a little more than a month now. The platform for the rear seats was rotted out so took that out and built a new platform for the seats. Replaced the wood covering the gas tank, and ski locker area. The rest of the deck seems pretty good. spent some time just cleaning everything in general and getting some cushion work done also.

Thanks,

As you can see, some of the bow cushions show alot of fish hooks lol. So going to get a sewing machine, order some vinyl and try my hand at making cushions.

I'm actually looking for this exact boat and want to fix one up. May I ask how much you paid for it? I'd love to see more pictures as well!

I bought the same boat last year and it too needed quite a bit of work. I had to replace the ski locker and fuel tank covers and had to rebuilt the starboard side front bench. Most of the cushion bases were rotted and many of the seams were split.

After a lot of elbow grease, some plywood, and a little sewing it looks great now.

It is a great little boat once it gets cleaned up.

I cannot figure out how to post pix here or I would put some up. Is there a way to post a pic that is on my hard drive?

Well , turns out the #1 cylinder was shot, brought the boat to a local marine guy to rebuild motor. After alot of arguing and 3 months later finally go the boat back. Here is some shots of it on the lake, during the break in period , unfortunatley no pics breaking it in because it wasnt working right, doing the same thing as is did when i brought it in, I was furious to say the least. Waited a day to cool off before calling the mechanic and decided to look around. Took the engine cover off and lo and behold a coil wire had fell off. PUt that back on, put it on muffs and it started right up, Hope to have some actual running pics this weekend. I am wanting to redo the rear seats, make more of a bench type. Anyone have any ideas?

I like your bow-rider boat. I suppose the down side is that you have that many more seats to maintain &/or repair. Your hull looks to be in good condition.
I was fortunate to find a Freedom I/O in great condition. I only need to glue a couple of seat seams together and replace some worn parts.
