Thought I'd post up some pics of my U-17. Don't see too many of them around but there are some. They only made the U-17 in 1996 and 1997. Mine is a '96. The '97 model design changed a bit and went to Chevy power instead of Ford.

The boat has a 5.0 mated to a Volvo Penta SX with a 23 pitch prop. The best I've seen is 62 MPH on GPS. It's a really fun little boat.

Surprised to see trim tabs on that size boat. Must be a heck of a ride at those speeds.

It really doesn't need the tabs...certainly not to plane but they are kind of nice to have. If you are at low speed, below plane, it has a tendency to want to list to port from the prop torque. I have found that if I put them down just a little above 60, they smooth out the chine walk as well.

It definitely feels faster than 60. You are right on the water.
