Have a liberator 221 1992 with 7.4L GM and King Cobra stern drive with 300 hrs.

Engine runs fine starts well and most everything in good working order.

I got it last year and enjoyed it all last summer with no problems.

Looking for advice of what to do with this boat as the impeller needs replacing and I have been unable to find one for it.

Am thinking of the following options:

1. Start boat on fire and collect insurance

2. try to trade boat in on another boat

3. try to sell to an unexpecting fool like myself

4. replace the stern drive :?:

If I do 4, greateful for any suggestions such as replacing with Brovo III and what needs to be done.

Really enjoy the boat am willing to invest into it and even restore it but do not want to do engine and drive as I think I'll sink too much into it for the value I get out.

Figure out what type of motor you have Johnson (outboard) Volvo P (Inboard) I assume, unless someone changed it. Get the model # e.g. VJ150TXESB and buy the impeller kit

That's not an uncommon stern drive. Any boat shop carries it. Just bring the serial numbers off the engine and outdrive, the computer does the magic, and they walk back to the counter with the part.

My local shop has EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGGG. Call them if you're having issues finding the part.

Thanks for the replys. Doug Russel comes up empty handed on impellers the king cobra for my 1992 liberator.

Thanks ric for the link to boattune, that is a great shop with helpful people.

They had info on who in the US has the impellers in stock and there were only a few. I ordered two of them and will get a third soon.

Thanks again, although this got me looking into repowering my liberator with a remanufactured mercury with new mercury stern drive. Getting estimates and seems not too spendy. However, also looking into getting a bigger speed boat too.

No prob, they are great people at Boat Tune. They always treat me with respect and like they care about more then just swiping my credit card.

Re-powering is a pain. You couldn't probably just sell the boat and use that money to get that speedboat you want.

Yeah I'll likely sell the lib but I thought I would check first on repowering. Thanks again, as I'll be getting the impeller in soon.
