i have a 1988 160 freedom with the 3.0. tried to take her out today after de-winterizing and she would start up. no spark but i have power at the coil and points but still no spark. apperantly all the ignition components were replaced before i bought the boat. it ran great last summer.....do get it and need some insight

I'm not really sure, but did you look at your neutral switch? maybe move it around a bit and see if it is not making the right connections? Just a thought...

make sure the points are not corroded. The contacts that touch. Sand the contacts with some sandpaper. Probably will fire right up

points needed cleaning after all winter. filed them and cleaned them with electronic cleaner......works like a champ!
