i have a 1988 160 freedom with the 3.0. tried to take her out today after de-winterizing and she would start up. no spark but i have power at the coil and points but still no spark. apperantly all the ignition components were replaced before i bought the boat. it ran great last summer.....do get it and need some insight |

I'm not really sure, but did you look at your neutral switch? maybe move it around a bit and see if it is not making the right connections? Just a thought... |

make sure the points are not corroded. The contacts that touch. Sand the contacts with some sandpaper. Probably will fire right up |

points needed cleaning after all winter. filed them and cleaned them with electronic cleaner......works like a champ! |
