Post subject:  scratched gelcoat how to fix

a sail boat ( ) had hit my 268 near the bow, let's say 50 cm under the gunwale.

The gelcoat has 2 scratches one of them has small cracks and a small deformation.

Is there any easy way to fix this? would it be possible to fill those small cracks? Any suggestion on how to proceed?

Easy is only releative to your experience level. There is only one way to fix gelcoat. If you search youtube, there are a couple of generous body shops that have some how too vids on it. The only thing easy is the words, "Sand on, Sand off".

If you have access to a reputable shop, Gelcoat is also inexpensive to fix. I am at 5 yrs of typical boating stuff, and plan on having my little scratches and nicks taken care of over this off-season (and maybe a new set of decals.... look at Raceline digital to see).
Another thought I had was to "show it off". Get some vinyl decals made up like band-aids, or stitches and make it look like the result of a bar fight! We nick-named my BIL's boat "Scar-face" for some dock rash, and thought about doing it instead of repair.

This is one area where I'm lucky to have an excellent fiberglass shop for repairs. Sure you can do it yourself, but I agree there's only one right way to do it (in this case grind out that area of gel coat and spray new), and it takes practice and experience to be good at it. Have you talked to the captain of the blow boat?

yeah, we had a polite exchange of opinions on his mother occupation.

thanks for all tips, at the end i will ask a professional to do it, since i took a look at youtube and realized i'm not able to do it by myself.

I figured that was the best medicine.

Cool. Nice entry level boat.

You may find more "like minded" B-liner owners that have more in common with you on the BOC site, than on this Four Winns site.

http://www.baylinerownersclub.org/

But you can hang here with defectors like myself if you wish. This board(iFour Winns) is "Dedicated to Current and Future Owners" , so who
knows, both of us might own a Four Winns someday. I have already, and it was a great boat for us.

S.P.A.M. tastes good fried in a pan.......

I really hope the Bliner forums is not like the stingray forums. I don't like posting on that forum, they don't get all into modifications, enhancements, etc. They're all about saving money and getting the most economy out of their rides. I'm the first member on the site to have a TV in their cuddy and one of the only boats to have a modified sound system. Boring.

Hang out here man, we like to make the most out of our vessels.

Has to be better than the Baja forums. Not much help on anything really, unless you want to buy something from someone.
