The previous owner of my FWs left it outdoors for 5 years with just the snap on covers. I keep it garaged, but I am left with the narrow band of white and yelow gelcoat above rubrail badly oxidized. Wax and cleaner wax hand applied does nothing. What's the best way to apply compound to this narrow area and around cleats, etc..? 6 inch rotary polishers seem overkill. Are there smaller ones available? Couldn't find one. A small orbital sander would seem to be the right size, but no control of OPM...

Thanks in advance,

Correction on my part...appears you can get 2.75" backing plates for use with 4" and 4.5" pads. Reading the article below, I don't yet know if what I'm seeing is primarily surface oxidation or a more permanent (irreversible) fading of the gel coat. Ive read where some of you just eventually had the colored gel coat painted. Hope it doesnt come to that. Guess I will start out with a polisher and see what happens...
