A search of "cockpit cover" brings up everything except what I need. A new (or used) one. Anyone have any experience where I can find one?
1996 Sundown 205
After 18 years the cover became so threadbare it tore while towing. Ugly sight in my rear-view mirror of the cover flapping in the breeze.

Thanks!

Mark

Best bet is to find a marine canvas shop and see if they can use what's left of the old one to use for a pattern to make a new one.
I had a new set made about 12 years ago and I take them off for winter storage and put the canvas winter cover on which makes them last longer. I've had them re-sewn a few times but the sunbrella is still good....

When you say "cockpit cover" are you talking about the cover that snaps onto the base of the windshield, and uses elastic cords on the stern just above the swim platform? Sometimes its referred to as a mooring cover, so you might try searching for that. I can tell you a direct replacement for our vintage boats is hard to find. LouC is right, your best bet is to find a canvas shop to make one, probably set ya back about $300-400 bucks. And most places want you to bring your boat in so they can measure it, they don't like using the old cover for a template because of shrinkage and such. I had mine "refurbished" by a local shop for $75 bucks.

Indeed, the snap on cover. I cannot find a soul that sells them -- so a custom job it will likely have to be, sadly.

Thanks!

Thanks!

You're going to get a better job that way, even if it costs a bit more....

My 248 is at the canvas shop now getting a new customers camper. The owner "threw in" a cockpit cover for me!

Presto. Custom made. Almost 900 dollars, if anyone is searching for estimates. Solid, sturdy, I'll get at least another 15 years outta this one...

Looks good! I'm going to need one this fall too. I'm not looking forward to that bill though...

Sorry, I misunderstood. We refer to that ^^^^ as a mooring cover.

We just bought a new cockpit cover for our 245 SD before we sold it. We bought it from Four Winns. Cover was $400 plus $100 labor to install the snaps. It was a couple weeks for delivery from the Factory.

That is definitely not a mooring cover ;)

Looks good and actually that's a good price for that kind of work. I paid about the same in 2003 for the cockpit and bow covers for my '88 H-200.
But that's Long Island NY prices. The Sunbrella fabric is still in good shape because when the boat's in storage I use a winter storage cover.
