I have a 2015 275-V from new. I wax it spring and fall at take out. Since I have it from new I have only been using Sur Hold Pro Polish. It has been holding up well except for the brown line around the bottom just above the bottom paint. I know this is common at the end of the season in the brackish water I'm in, however, has any one out there have any success in dealing with this. The boat sits in the marina and I don't beach it. Fortunately the marina has no problem getting it off with the power wash in the fall.

Have you given any thought to raising the bottom paint up just a bit?

I use Mary Kate’s on and off gel. I would Get feedback how it is on bottom paint, very strong, I use a sponge to put on, cleans the brown off, then rinse. Biocleen makes a good product too

Thanks for the feed backs. Raising the bottom paint line may be the best solution. It just terrifies me to ask the marina to do it. I don't know if it would be etched properly and blended in well. I will ask around. I have used Mary Kates as a cleaner, great stuff, recommend glasses and rubber gloves, a good rinse and waxing afterwards. What I am really trying to do is find something to apply to the surface immeditly above the bottom paint line that would help keep the brown stain from sticking to the white paint. I guess I should get in line with this one.

On my 318 I raised the bottom paint two inches and just did most of the sides the same time.

Raising the bottom paint shouldn't be too bad. Sand the edge as smooth as possible so you don't see a line, even though you probably won't see it in the water. Sand the unpainted fiberglass to scuff it up for the paint to adhere. Use a cleaner to remove all wax residue. I used Interlux 202(use a respirator, strong stuff). Then run a piece of tape down the sides where you want the paint to come up to. You can use a roller but put on 2 light coats instead of one thick coat. I used a brush last time I stripped and painted my dinghy.
I would paint the whole bottom while you are at it so it matches but if you don't need to just paint down like 6"-12" or so.

Anyone try Collonite cleaner on the scum line? I used it last year before waxing and it was pretty good stuff. I don't have a scum line becuase my bottom paint comes up pretty far but I do get other stains.
