My navy blue 2015 OEM canvas started shedding blue dust and fibers in 2019. It's noticeable when I run my fingers over it while covering the boat. It even gets under my nails a little. My boat is only out in the sun two months per year and stays in an enclosed garage the other 10 months. I use a light application of 303 Fabric Guard annually at the beginning of the season for waterproofing.

Anyone else have a canvas that's shedding like this?

Thank you.

Is it Sunbrella fabric or something else?
I hand wash with woolite and sprayed 303 on it every spring. The woolite cleans and softened the fabric.
How is the garage? Does it get hot? That may be draying it out too. Maybe spray with 303 before storage too and hit it again mid season.

It’s made by Four Winns but I’m not sure if the factory uses Sunbrella material.

The garage does not get very hot. If anything it gets very cold over the winter. Exterior temps can get down to -20F sometimes but typical garage temps are probably between 15 degrees and 35 degrees mid-winter. I have never washed the canvas with any kind of mild detergent. Only rainfall and the 303 Fabric Guard have touched it.

It could be the chemicals and dirt coming off from not washing it. I used woolite on the four winns canvas and the fabric was like brand new when we sold it. The other thing you could try is bringing it to a canvas shop to ask them what you could do. A couple places I have used have been very helpful. Seeing it in person will also help.
