Are you asking 230 Mike (with the nicely shined lawn ornament) or the "average Joe"? :lol: :lol: :roll: I personally try for a good waxing in the Fall and another in the spring just to double up the protection for the summer. I wax the topside (exposed gunwales) several times a season when I am bored sitting out there with nothing to do....usually when it is just the family. I think waxing is more important in certain climates (high UV) than others... But if you spend too much time waxing then you don't have time to use it !!! I am sure others will chime in here.

I try to do a good wax strating below the water line in the spring while the boat is out of the water, and I try to add a few coats as the year goes on at the sand bar. I usually wax the areas that get black lines as well.

I usually add a coat at the end of the year to some of the main areas (Transom door, name etc)

I do it when I winterize, then once in the middle of the summer. I figure the one at the end of fall takes care of whatever wore off in the last half of summer and won't wear off over the winter since I store indoors all the time and there is no exposure to sunlight.

Before Mem Day; after the 4th; After Labor day.... in the winter it's stored outdoors 180 deg from the way it sits in the summer to even weathering.

I am going to wax mine this coming weekend along with winterization. What kind/brand of wax do you guys recommend? And I realize the wax below the water line will be washed away very shortly after I put it in the water for the first time, but since it's winter, would it hurt anything to wax everywhere I can reach?? Thanks guys.

Sure it can't hurt to wax everything, but you're right, below the water line it'll stay on for about the first 15 seconds of running :) .

I love Meguiar's Flagship Premium, but am going to give one of the 3M waxes a try next season I think.
