Just bought my 2008 V258 and attempted to home pump out like my neighbor across the street does with his Regal and a shop-vac. It appears that the port being that the top of the boat (rather then off the back like my neighbor's) proves to be too much gravity for both our shop-vacs. Can anyone tell me how they have been able to pump out at home? |

guess you could always siphon it. <gross> Buy a bigger shop vac? Mike is right... pump out before you guys get off the lake if at all possible. Also - check with your local dealer to see what options you may have for a pump out station for trailer-boaters. Obviously, it's not quite as easy as an RV... |

I put together a contraption for my 248 that worked. It consisted of a 1.5" tee that screwed into the pump out port. At the top of the tee I attached a macerator pump. The output of the macerator pump had a 1 ft section of cleat tubing and then a hose fitting for a garden hose. The other part of the tee had a ball valve with another hose fitting for a garden hose coming from the house (freshwater source). The hose from the macerator was run over to the service port of my septic tank. To use it, you screwed it into the port, attached the garden hose from the house (freshwater source) and then the exit hose off the macerator pump to the septic tank. You turned on the water, opened the valve which filled the pumpout line from the tank with water helping the macerator pump get it's prime. Tuned on the macerator pump, once the water was flowing out (able to see through the clear section on the outlet) I would close the valve from the freshwater source and the macerator would empty the tank quite nicely. I would then shut the pump off, open the valve on the freshwater side and allow the tank to fill with fresh clean water, turn the macerator pump on again and viola, the tank was now flushed and clean. The whole think cost about $100 to build... the macerator pump being the bulk of the cost. All the other parts were from Home Depot. |

After starting this post, I did some more searching and came to the same conclusion in using a macerator. Although you idea of prefacing it with a Tee to allow water intake is an excellent thought. I think this is the route I will go. Leave it to Lakeland FL to come up with the good ideas!!!!

cacsman, I added a macerator pump and T-valve down in the bilge. This way I can pump out at the marina before getting off the water, or if there is a line I don't want to wait for, dump like we do our RV by stopping at a RV dump on the way home. I added 20' of 1" hose off the macerator to reach whatever, sewer dump, portable tank, portapotty sink, ect...  Both the valve and macerator pump are Jabsco brand. Four Winns already had all the electrical wiring for a macerator, all I had to do was mount and install a fuse in the fuse panel, switch is in the head. Works great. |

Bear in mind, in some jurisdictions there are legal issues with having a macerator on board. I don't have one so I don't know the rules. But from what I gather there have be effective "locks" in place that prevent any use of the macerator while on restricted waters. |
