I've been using Dawn to clean the boat after each outing, but I was reading where the PH of dishwashing soap is too harsh. I need to find something else now that I've probably washed off the wax the dealer put on.

Meguiar's makes boat wash and boat "gel" wash and a Flagship wash.

As far as waxes, there are a few but my dealer recommended Flagship Premium Marine Wax.

What do you use?

I've been using any of the boat washes that don't strip the wax. I haven't seen a difference between the expensive and cheaper ones.

As to wax, 3M has held up here in Fla well with all our sun. You can generally find it at WallyMart cheaper than the boat stores

the prob with dawn is it will strip your wax on every wash....be sure to wax your boat immediately and wash with a more gentle boat wash.

along this vein.....

I like to wipe down the boat after its on the trailer. To remove stains and dirt from the day's trip....I like to use products such as 409, or any of the Orange products.
What type of products do you guys use? Are there spray products that don't harm the wax...and, are inexpensive?

The best solution I've found for cleaning my boat immediately after pulling it out of the water is a 50-50 mix of white vinegar and water. It works amazing. The water spots just wipe right off and it leaves a nice shine. I've done mine several times between waxes and never notice any deterioration in the wax. Water still beads nicely. I should note that I have the wide band black hull so I can see every spot and cleaning is essential.

Don't even bother waxing the hull. a minute or two on plane and the wax is gone.

I try to do mine 4 times a year. Of course we have a tad bit more and intense sun down here. Twice should be good for most.

I do mine twice. Once in Spring and again right about now. There's a great product called Ducky that works wonders on very hard, stubborn water stains that vinegar and water won't remove. google it...and you'll find it.
anyone use spray type detergents like 409?

Most of what I've read and seen, including "Ship Shape TV", indicate that household cleaners on gelcoat is a no-no. Selling boat-only products is not a marketing tactic. The formulas are specially designed for the surfaces.

But... I'm a newbie.
