Post subject:  Cabin Halogen Pin Lights. How many watts?

I have a 2000 298 Vista and I want to replace a halogen pin light bulb in the cabin (similar to the picture below) but I don't know how many watts to get (the wattage wasn't on the bulb I took out). Does anyone know if it is 20, 50 or 100 watts? Thanks.

Are there any markings on the housing? We've got some under-cabinet lights in our kitchen that use those, and they're 20's. I can't imagine they'd use a higher (hotter!) one in a boat interior.

10W if I remember correct. My local Lowes had the bulb.

Thanks for the replies. I will keep the wattage low.

I was thinking about going LED out in the cockpit with the blue color but didn't see the benefit for going LED inside. What advantage is LED in the cabin? Thanks.

Dramatically lower current draw and heat production. But, in the cabin you might have a harder time finding just the right fixtures to 1) look the way you want them to and 2) provide the color temperature you want in an interior space.

I didn't know that and my halogen cabin lights do draw down the battery pretty quick. I did notice the LED threads when searching for halogen lights but basically blew them off since they were for colored lights. I will have to revist those threads again to see where to get them. Thanks.

LEDs are nice but I always find the white bulbs are never truely white. They always have a blue tint to them. I know a true white bulb exists because my mercedes has them. It's just always hard to find them in aftermarket. Superbright Leds . Com has a great assortment for a great price.
