has anyone attempted or have any feedback on painting a shore power cable? The reason I ask is when I bought my new (to me) four winns it came with two power cables in great shape. I had two from my old boat, one I left with the boat and the other I kept leaving me with three cables. I use one with the boat and keep one as a back up on the boat. the third I planned on selling. It is very clean but it is pretty faded. I was thinking about buying some of the spray paint made for the outdoor plastic acrylic furniture and trying that. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't expect any paint to adhere to anything that flexible. I think it would have more value being sold "it is what it is" rather than trying to make it look like something it isn't. I might be wrong, though.

I have it listed that way, as being worn, it wasnt really to be decietful more to try and make it better looking. I just hate selling something worn, I feel if it can be made to look better for a few bucks why not try.

There are electrical insulating varnishes that are designed to remain flexible, but also quite expensive. As above, if it is in good (safe) condition, I wouldn't try to cover anything up.

It's used....If someone is willing to buy a used power cord, it probably wont matter that much if it is faded.

My $0.02

My 2000 298 Vista takes two 30's. What does your 1999 298 take? If two 30's, keep the 3rd as a spare. If you only take one 50, sell one of your two spares but definitely no paint.

It only takes one because I dont have AC/Heat...it was the one option my beautiful 298 didnt have that I wanted. Oh well. It was either the twon 350's and no air/heat, or twin 305's and ac/heat. I am happy with my choice

Sorry for the old thread revival but wondering if you by chance still have this cord for sale. Just got a slip for my 238 Vista so now I need one and don't want to spend hundreds on a new one. If not, anyone out there know of a cheap source for a new one??

Unfortunately I sold it pretty quickly. I just left it as it was and did not paint it. sorry but good luck finding one, check ebay and craigslist!

West Marine runs a special on a cord every now and then that seems to be a pretty good deal.
