I have been told washing your covers with Woolite is a good and safe practice. We took our cover to the laundry mat yesterday to use their industrial size washing machine and did the cover, all is well.

The question I have is if its a good idea to do the bimini top the same way. My ONLY concern is that my bimini top has two insenglass "windows" that allow the lights from the radar arch to shine through. Do you think it is ok to use woolite and wash the bimini top in the same fashion?

The problem would be creasing the clear vinyl sections in a tumble washer.

I've always use the 303 fabric cleaner as that's what Sunbrella recommends. The canvas on mine have held up nicely using this.

But the stitching on the arch and some zippers has started to fail. Along with the clear vinyl cracking. That's to be expected with 6 years out on the hot sun. Expected, but still painful to the wallet to replace...

The information below is from the Sunbrella web site and is what I followed last year to clean our complete camper top before installing the camper top back on our boat prior to spring launch. I did use the instructions for heavy cleaning, but would not do the heavy cleaning each year. I wanted to start off our first year of ownership with our 328 with having a real clean camper top. I was quite pleased with the end results, but it did make me nervous using bleach on a black camper top!

General or light cleaning
To clean Sunbrella while still on a boat, follow these simple steps:

Brush off loose dirt.
Hose down.
Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite (no detergents).
Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
Air dry.
May not require re-treatment depending on the age of the fabric.
If stubborn stains persist, you can use a diluted chlorine bleach/soap mixture for spot cleaning of mildew, roof run-off or other similar stains (see our Stain Chart for specific recommendations).

Heavy cleaning for stubborn stains and mildew
Sunbrella fabric does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric. To clean mildew, or other stubborn stains:

Eight ounces (one cup) of chlorine bleach.
Two ounces (1/4 cup) of mild soap and/or detergent.
One gallon of water.
Clean with soft bristle brush.
Allow mixture to soak into the fabric for up to 15 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
Air dry.
Repeat if necessary.
Re-treatment of fabric for water and stain resistance will be necessary.

I'm glad someone else posted that. Thanks Mike. When in doubt, simply read the instructions.
I also followed that method to the letter last spring with our complete sunbrella camper canvas.
