First project on the new boat.
With the '07 Horizon 200 FW moved the Stereo Head unit from the cockpit passenger side to the Helm station. Here you can see the radio just behind the steering wheel to the right.

Nice loaction for those cruising alone, but I found myself inundated by passenger requests to change Sirius music stations, adjust volume etc. I'm of the opinion that my attention is better spent on enjoying the day, and possibly operating the boat safely, so I decided that a stereo remote in an area accessible by the passengers was needed.
The passenger side of the cockpit shown below has nice fit and finish, but I couldn't find an area to surface mount the remote that I liked.

I decided to mount the remote inside the glove box, where there is just enough space to the left of the built in ice box. I couldn't find a way to run wiring into this area without completely taking apart the console, so drilled a hole.

No turning back now!
Here's the wiring and an anchor block for mounting the mounting plate I fabricated out of star board.

The mounting plate proved to be a challenge due to the curved 'roof' of the console box, and the setback needed for closing the console box door, as well as the space needed for lifting the lid of the ice box. I ended up with an L shape, open at the back. Here's a close up of the remote installed in the starboard mounting.

And here is the inside of the console box as it looks today.

Done!
