I would assume better performance than 3ft, but it ticks the novelty box for some applications.
Oh & RE make some serious componentry!

it is cool.. one issue i see me being an audiophile is the inherent fact that bluetooth and wifi both down sample the audio files.. translation they compress and make them lower quality and smaller size to pass over air waves faster for seamless play.. now if you are someone like me that is sitting at there desk listening to a set of HiFi hand built digital to analog amped speakers with crossovers retail setup close to $600 as i type this then no way would i ever use blue tooth..

applications that i can see this being extremely applicable is the beach cooler radios that are the craze right now.. and sound quality is not key,,

If your head unit has an AUX input you could always just add a bluetooth interface. I've got a blackberry branded one plugged into our Clarion CMD5's aux port. Works relatively well, but then I've also got a regular iPod charging cable for direct audio-in. With that, at least, it's also charging the player at the same time with just one cable. But I guess you could have just a regular 12v charging cable and still use bluetooth.
