Hi all,

Curious if anyone has one, or listened to one?
I can no longer be bothered with trying to waterproof automotive head units and this seems like a great solution.

Daz.

Surprisingly good for such a compact device!
Plenty of sound features on the unit, too...

Sorry to bring back to life an older post...
Are you running an amp with your jbl or is the little buddy sufficient by itself? I was looking to add bluetooth to my existing clarion xmd3 that came originally on the boat. The plan was to replace the 4 speakers as well which I still plan to do. I love the way you mounted the stereo facing the walkthrough for easy access. It would be great to get that massive cd player out of my glove box and create more room for phones, keys, wallet, etc. I don't know much about car/boat audio. It looks like my clarion output is 52Wx4. Continuous 17Wx4. The JBL is 45Wx4 peak, 20W RMS (not sure what that means). Would this be a good replacement for my clarion? Not sure what I would do with the remote mounted beside the steering wheel if I pulled the clarion. How did the wiring go? Thanks in advance.

The JBL head unit powers all 4 speakers & I'm still thrilled I bought it.
I have a 1000WRms mono amp that simply powers my 10" subwoofer.
The original DIN cut out on the right of my dash (where the old stereo lived) was converted to a pocket - to hold my phone etc.
A simple DIN Pocket from Ebay screws straight in...
Wiring is predictable for changing a head unit. If you can solder & heatshrink, you'll be fine.

On a boat I would think crimp connectors would be better. Solder connections have no flex and can break with vibrations.

The head unit is not hanging by it's wires - The soldered loom will be fine.

Great to hear you still like it. I do not have a sub, so the 4 speakers powered by the JBL will be it for now. My plan (based on readings from this forum) is the Polk db651 speakers.

Awesome tip about the DIN pocket. I did not know they existed. I was planning to build a compartment to attach from the back out of 1/4" starboard or something. The DIN pocket is awesome! Solder/heatshrink is no problem.
