It does, but I got the handheld VHF for the weather alert feature. We get popup severe storms here in FL anytime during the summer. VHF on a handheld is useless though unless you're talking to bridge operators, range is garbage. Needs an external antenna if you would wanna talk to anyone that's farther than 1000ft away.
