Hey! I have upgraded the sound in my boat with a alpine pdx 4.100 amp and a pair of alpine spr-m70 speakers. The result was decently even without a sub. Before I changed the head unit to the Fusion 700 I tested the sound with my old Clarion cmd3 and my new speakers had pretty good punch and a bit of deep bass. When I changed the head unit to my new factory refurbished ip700 almost all deep bass disappeared even with the bass at maximum on the stereo. Now it sounds pretty flat, it's clear and loud but has lost a lot of bass with the swap. Anyone else that changed to a fusion stereo and have the same problem?

Go throught the settings & ensure the 'High Pass Filter' isn't activated on the head unit.

Thanks for the reply! I have gone trought all setting i think. The only thing on the stereo I can change is treble bass and mid. The bass is on max but not near the deep bass on the old stereo.

Have a look through the operators manual.
There may be a HPF function that you've missed.

If you're looking for optimal sound quality you're not going to find it in a marine stereo, hence why I always stick with standard automotive stereos. Mainly Kenwood because they sound great and the auto stereos work with the marine remotes.

I tested Fusion and other head units at West Marine last week and to my surprise Fusion did lack the bass. Clarion sounded the best. I thought that I just couldn't figure out all the settings but maybe there is
something to it.

That's a huge waste of money for an ancient clarion stereo unless you picked one up for $50.

Did you look through the manual/ download one?
I doubt Fusion have placed a non-removable, factory installed HPF on their head units.
If they did, it'd make adding a subwoofer to the system a little difficult, wouldn't it?!

Yes to the above! Also I would call them, there very helpful. Better still, why not return the unit than sell it?

I don't have that problem AND it could be the speaker. I think that it was not setup right. Even the one at westmarine.

I have owned both Sony & Clarion and they just don't compare.

I will put my neck out! Fusion has a bigger built in amp than most, bigger screen, better DAC (thus better sound), NMEA2k so no home runs for remotes are not needed and the newer GPSs can control the 700, the remotes can display depth, speed and more, water proof ipx5, Zones so I can turn up the V in the cockpit or cabin without effecting the other, VHF monitoring & marine weather, displays artwork, earier to use. I can go on.

Fusion stereos do everything except play music! hahahaha

Sony, Alpine, JBL, Pioneer, etc refuse to make their automotive stereos compatible with their marine remotes (if they offer them). Instead they sell you a "marine" stereo with 5 year old technology that should be MSRP of $40, but instead it's $300 cause it works with the marine remotes.

What is the #1 rated stereo on Crutchfield right now?

Oh look, it's the stereo I have in my boat 8)

I will admit the choice of remotes were not the best looking, but hey.. they do the job.

If you think it's BS that a marine remote works with a car stereo:

Hey ric for someone who seems to know a lot about stereos I'm surprised to hear you still use remotes? I thought by now you would be using Bluetooth?!

Yes I 99% of the time stream bluetooth audio, but the stereo is inside the cabin so I need a wired remote at the helm to control it's basic functions while under power. Previously I was just using the iR remote, but it requires the door to be constantly open and well... bugs.
