Brent, have you added bluetooth using this method before? My head unit has rca outputs, but i'm not sure about inputs. I have the Clarion CDM4A. Can you recommend something? I'd love to add bluetooth streaming until I get my head unit replaced.

I have the CMD4a in mine and yes, it has RCA inputs. You access them on the faceplate by pushing the "iPod AUX" button. From the factory, there is a 3.5mm jack wired to them. Just ditch that and order the JL Audio unit. It requires a power and ground lead, then plug in the RCA jacks. Mine picks up from 50 feet away and the audio is much clearer than the headphone jack method.

Read the latest post about constant power to eliminate re-sync while on the water.

Thanks for the link Brent. That's the same model I was looking into earlier. So how did you end up getting it constant power without it drawing when you're not in the boat?

Wire it to the same 12V source as the head unit and the rest of the head unit but on the boat side of the switch.

I ended up ordering the Sony MEX-M100BT for $269. I did not opt for the automotive version because they were no longer available for $149 at Best Buy. Everyone had them for $199. For only $70 difference, I'll take the Marine version and have the epoxied board.

I like that the this Sony has the built in Amp with a true 40watt RMS, as I am not planning on adding an external amp(s). If I ever want to upgrade that, I could add a powered sub, but not planning that any time soon.

I also had ordered the West Marine WM7000 while it was on sale, but I will return that to the store.

Thanks for all your help.
