Nice install!

What did you use to keep the polyfill in place or did you fill the whole compartment?

How does it sound?

Damn nice lookin install my friend! Let us know how hard that thing hits. I've held off on installing a sub because I have heard the free air subs dont hit near as hard as a boxed sub and I cant really find a place to squeeze in a box without some major work. That sub is lookin good!

The poly fill is stuffed along the sides that are open to the ski locker. It weighs nothing so staying in place is not a problem. It basically serves the purpose that some use dynamat for, absorbing sound. Of course, this stuff is like $5 a bag. It only took one.

I'm very satisfied with the sound. Yes, sealed enclosures provide more deep bass, but at what expense on space. You can actually see the outer hull vibrating with it cranked up. Don't hesitate to give them a try. Wetsounds has put extensive research in thier infinate baffle subs. You just need a serious amp to get serious results.

My problem is I've already got 1 pretty serious amp and since I do most radio listening while tied up to a few friends I think battery drain is going to be an issue if I add a sub that needs quite a bit of juice to push it. Even with 2 batteries

Hey Paradise -- easy fix... add a third battery and a cap on the amp for the sub. No big deal :D

aka overkill.

i/b subs definitely do not pound like a sealed or ported enclosure... but as many would say -- we really just want that little extra kick... having something is better than having nothing.

That being said... I may end up fiberglassing in an enclosure in that stock location and turning it into a sealed box... add another amp... and whamo - there is a sealed box. But for this season, the core of it is there.

And then there's the whole... WAF (wife acceptance factor) -- those of us who are married know what that's all about. I trade.. I get a stereo, she gets a spa day.

mid 50's....

Yeah... If I was that old, I'd NEED to put in a bigger stereo so I could hear it.

I'm "30 & Flirty" according to the keychain my wife got me yesterday for my birthday.

Didn't you guys know -- 30 is the new 20?

Back to stereos... I wish I had 390 bucks into mine. Crap. I'm into wiring/cables 150 bucks by themselves...

Looks good, my SS came with the enclosed sub system but I don't think it pounds near as hard as it should, so I might be looking at some different options.
