I have a question for anyone who has taken delivery of a 2008 boat with the new Sony stereos? I have only seen my new boat for a short period of time a few months ago. Does the head unit come with the ipod connection? I don’t remember seeing it, and wondered where it would be when not in use. It does look like it has it based on the manual. Do you know what is displayed on the unit and the remotes when the ipod is playing? I am just getting ready for the long awaited spring in NH. Thanks in advance Bill |

Hey Bill - assuming it's set up the same as the V358, the iPod connection is a 1/8" audio input jack and not a full-blown iPod interface (although I believe the Sony heads can accommodate them) so it is not equipped to show song/artist info. In the 288, the input jack is just above where the VHF mic is mounted:  (V288 iPod Input) |

Thanks Sierra, I guess I should have realized that was what that connection was. I have a Sony ipod interface XA-1101IP coming today that I bought fairly cheap on eBay ($14). It says it plays and charges the ipod. I am hoping it will also display the current status of the ipod. I will know more once spring arrives. It is funny the online manual for the CDXH905IP shows a different cable for the connection to the ipod. Thanks Bill |

bhurley, How did that interface work. I ordered one off of ebay and hooking it up when it gets here. Got a lot of four winns buddies curious about it? |

I hate to admit this, but I never installed it. After looking at the wiring. I would have had to give something up for my set up. I just use the ipod 1.5 connection. Everything I have read about it says they are great. I will be watching to see your results. Good luck. Sorry Bill |

Bill, Going to make a new post on this, thought I'd give you a heads up. I'm 99% sure with your boat which is same year as mine you can hook that up without losing anything. |
