Post subject:  Bow speakers/stereo upgrade?

I want to upgrade my stereo and add bow speakers, if possible, so you can hear the stereo from the bow while running. Anyone done this with the same boat I have? Where will they fit?

Also, I plan on just going to Circuit City for advice and maybe the install as well as I have had good luck with them working on my truck. Anyone want to recommend a good setup? I plan on getting a new head unit (iPod ready), maybe replace the existing speakers unless I can salvage them (don't see why not unless CC says they suck). Do I need an amp or subwoofer? Any concerns powering 6 speakers instead of 4? I just want a great sound, not necessarily loud.

I also have problems with overheating with my current Sony. What is causing this (besides the heat  ) and can it be avoided with the new system?

I am not savy in this area, please speak slowly. Thanks in advance!

If you're driving more than just the four speakers, or you want to play into the 'outside' you'd do well to add an amp. Otherwise you're just making the head unit try to drive what it can't support. This isn't good for the speakers either. That'll cause any head unit to crank out a lot of heat, and if there's not enough air circulation it'll certainly overheat. Solve the problem in two ways, use an amp and make sure you've got the head unit setup in a fashion that allows it to keep cool.

Thanks for the advice. Should I worry about extra strain on the battery with more power being sent to the stereo?
