Finally installed my 5-channel Kicker amp, and 10" sub. Used the factory FW box for the sub and I guess I'm not all that impressed. Sounds way better than factory though and is much louder with more power going to the stock Clarion speakers. Man my arms itch! Damn fiberglass! HAHA. Gonna get the Perko installed tonight. Now just dreaming of 90 degress. Would have tried to get some pics, but the wife is out of town with the camera.

Awesome!

Impulse built a larger box than the Four Winns garbage and he says it sounds really good. Seems like th factory box is too small and leaks a lot of air, as such, just doesnt produce good sound.

Got any pics of the install?

Is it a sealed enclosure for the sub? or is it the factory "bracket" system, I call it, made out of that plastic cutting board material? Do yourself a huge favor and build or buy a sealed sub box, you'll be way happier.

Making your own is a fun and rewarding small project. I've only built a handfull of sub boxes over the years, but the obvious benefit of building it yourself vs. buying one is that you can build it any size you want and to fit the final location, within reason of course. Check the mfr website for the specs on what size box your specific sub will operate in, which will be a range and as long as you build it in that range the sub will work very well, very efficently(sp). I know opinions vary on the subject, but I prefer a stuffed, sealed box over the ported one's 10 million to 1. You'll get that solid pounding bass, vs. very boomy loud bass. Much cleaner, tighter bass. 3/4" MDF, lot's of glue, lot's of screws, pre-drill your holes and use a bunch of clear liquid nails like calking along all seams on the inside and you've got yourself a hell of a subbox. To make it marine friendly, spray it with some truckbed liner. There are others on here that are much more qualified on this subject, so I'll just shutup now, because I'm starting to talk like I know what I'm talking about. Anyway, hope that helps prod you in the right direction.

I am probably just going to buy a pre-made box that will fit the specs and location and then put my own little touchs on it, such as caulk all the seems and corners and then stuff it with some poly fill which seems to help keep the bass much tighter. From past expierence anyway.
