My 05 Horizon 200 has the factory Clarioin XMD3. While it looks like a nice Headunit radio with Sirius hook-up I am getting quite frustrated with it. It seem to only work when it feels like it. There will be perfect sound coming out at one moment and the next there's nothing from the speakers. If I hold in the reset button the auxillary will allow me to play my mp3 player, but soon as I release it everything goes dead again. I've pulled all the connecting wires to check for contact (the HU just stops sending a signal), grounding wire, and fuses and there's nothing wrong. The only thing I can think of is a Headunit short somewhere in sending a signal to the speakers.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? The extended warranty will cover the fix/replacement of the HU, but putting it in the shop for such a small problem kills me as the weather in NC has already been great!

If you have a warranty that will cover it, I'd take advantage of it. I wouldn't have thought any original warranty would still cover that.

Talk to your dealer/ service dept. Maybe they will let you pull and bring in just the head unit - saves them time and space, and lets you use the boat.

When you say "goes dead" do you mean the XMD3 shuts off? If so, it could be the remote turn on wire. Even if you have good ground and 12+, a bad remote turn on wire will make the unit shut off as you say.

It could be that the wire is lose in the harness or the harness that plugs directly into your XMD3. Check your manual and fine the color (usually a solid blue) for remote 12+ and check that wire following it from the XMD3 all the way into the FW harness.

Even if you can't fix it, it will show your dealer that you are trying to solve the issue and aren't a dope. :P

The headunit is still powered on as if you're using it, but no output is coming from the speakers. The sound just cuts out.

I had the same problem and took it in for repair. Was a small black output board had gotten wet and corroded. 80 bucks.
