I am wondering in anyone has done an IPOD hookup on a Clarion XMD3. It appears to be the factory installed radio on my 2005 Horizon 230

I found this post on the Sony units : http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2336

Has anyone done something similar on the Carion AM/FM/CD Marine radio??

I installed a jack for the aux input (mine is an XMD2 but they're probably the same). There's no intelligence to it - no remote control, etc. - but at least you can plug the ipod into it and listen.

The XMD2 has two unused inputs hanging out of the back of the unit, one of these is for the aux.

I don't know if they are similar, but I have a CMD4A, and control the iPod by remote (amazon/Crutchfield). This also works with my swim platform mounted stereo remote.

I hope it helps!

I was going to do the Aux input route too...then I tried my Griffin FM transmitter I had been using in the Tahoe. Worked like a charm. What really surprised me is the reception quality. It does very very well. I can't do volume but the iPod is right in easy reach since the holder is right by the steering wheel.
