I am considering adding 2 Wet Sounds Pro 80 speakers to my wakeboard tower. I have stock Clarion speakers in XTP cans now. Has anyone tried adding these or any other speakers? I don't know anyone with them but I hear they are great sounding. I am a value kind of guy, so adding seems better to me than replacing but should I eliminate the Clarion speakers and replace with something else?

My FW dealer is strong on boats, engines, but not too savy on stereo equipment. They don't yet offer the Star Gazer perfect pass speed control. I think a stereo shop may be my best bet for installation. The Malibu dealer recommended "Freeman Stereo" for installation. Of course those jerks at Malibu wanted to know why I bought a stern drive with a wakeboard tower in the first place.

Anyway, I love my 240, wouldn't have anything else.

Those will sound great! Just make sure you send plenty of power to them. Wetsounds speakers tend to be power hungry.

Just curious, for the money, why not a single Pro 485? Thatwould be my choice. Some people don't care for the large enclosure. That's understood, but it's my understanding that the pro 485 puts out more sound.

I am leaning toward the Pro 80s at $999 along with the WS-420 equalizer at $299 (plus installation). Really, I only wanted the equalizer to have the 2 separate volume controls for tower speakers and boat speakers. We anchor and swim in Lake Norman. With the front to back fader on the stock Clarion amp to get the sound loud enough for swimmers, it's too loud in the boat. My FW dealer says no way to adjust the Clarion, need more equipment.

It's an expensive addition and I haven't heard it yet on a boat in the water, so asking for some advice from our group. Does anyone have them or has anyone heard them on a boat in the water? I have heard and read a lot about it, all very positive for equalizer and more so for Pro 80 speakers.

I plan to visit a Wet Sounds dealer. I'll look at the Pro 485 speakers then,
240 Joe

My brother-in-law has a set of 80's on his Nautique, they are the best speakers I have ever heard in a boat. 80 feet behind the boat you can hear every word spoken with little volume. Wetsounds set the bar in tower speakers with that cone design, look for the rest to follow soon if they want to stay in biz.

80ft? These look like the speakers on a boat in my creek. He passes me and I can hear the music clearly for a good 1/4 mile. This weekend the kids all had a raft up with about 100 boats spread over a 1/4 of a sandbar... his boat was the music for the entire thing, and it was crystal clear like you were at a concert.
