I have a 2008 Four Winns Horizon 210 SS with the stero upgrade. I would like to add some speakers in the rear of the boat as the sound diminishes back there. I have alread upgraded the speakers to the Polk MOMO's and have an extra pair but need to figure out where the best mounting location would be. If anyone has any suggestions or have done this modification themselves please let me know how or where the extra speaker were installed. Red Raider 2008 Four Winns H210 SS Canyon Lake, TX |

How satisfied are you with those Polk Momo's? Impulse (forum member) has added speakers on the facia panel under his bench seat. They are forward firing and add some decent fill to the rear of the cockpit. May try to consider there. |

On my 200 I installed speakers on either side of the rear bench by the cup holders. Fills in the cockpit area with sound nicely. I can dig up a link to the install if you're interested. |

I had mine put in above the rear cup holders so you can hear them while underway. Since this pic I have upgraded all 6 of my cockpit speakers to Polk MM651. ![]() ![]() |

Joe...what do you have powering them? I know you have them on an amp, so are they handling the power well? I want to go JL in mine, but dont want to spend the money on them... |

I hear ya but if you do, you will never regret it. They are fantastic especially the 7.7's. My god are they loud and clear. With only 4 (2 pair) in my 260 I think I was going deaf. It was "car like" loud and that says a lot for open air boat. |

Alpine 1000. I like the Polks over the JL's. |

Txjole2 wrote: Alpine 1000. I like the Polks over the JL's. Why do you lke the Polk's over the JL's? (price being the obvious difference?) 7.7 vs 6.5 And at least in my mind, sound quality is not even a comparison.... |

To me polk has alittle more thump in the bass over JL and for the price Polk was just a smarter choice. I just couldnt hear $150.00 more money out of the JL's than the polks. |

Damnit Joe...I wish your boat wasnt so far away...you really have me torn now. I am a HUGE JL fan but the cost is causing me to look a little closer at what I plan to do. |

Getting back to placement of speakers, I eventually put a Momo 10" sub under the bench on the port side - one of the few areas with enough space for a decent enclosure. ![]() If you follow in impulse's footsteps, and want to add a sub down the road, you'll have to do some brainstorming. Also the rear bench has a thin fiberglass veneer you'd have to cut through, followed by about a 2" space then the 1/2" starboard 'structure'. The fiberglass has a slight curve, and the starboard leans forward towards the bow - makes for a difficult install, and I'd suggest using enclosures especially if ponying up big bucks for JLs. ![]() I flat out copied the placement of txjole2's speaker addition, which sounds great from the bucket seats or rear bench. The speakers shown in the pic below are 7" - I don't think the JL 7.7" speakers would fit: ![]() Which ever way you go, post some pics! |

Going off what Jim said the facia pannel required cutting 2 holes a larger one in the facia pannel for the speaker and a smaller one in the bench frame material for the rear of the speaker basket to protrude through but I still had room for a JL sub under the starboard rear bench. The MTX that came with the boat blew recently (driver seperated from the rubber surround) so I built a bigger better sub box the just fit in the location mentioned. I don't have a picture of the sub in that location but it just fit and I made it down firing. ![]() ![]() |

Just kidding...looks great...is that box big enough? |
